Go Virtual provide a new supercomputer at DTU

News & Events, Okategoriserade

Go Virtual builds a new supercomputer that puts Denmark in
life science’s top league as one of the largest dedicated
supercomputer of its type with about 49.000 CPU cores.
Go Virtual provides Technical University of Denmark with complex high performance
computing capacity on-demand through the cloud.

Kongens Lyngby, Denmark, date, 2019 – Go Virtual today announced that it custom-designed a
new supercomputer for The Technical University of Denmark (DTU), the University of
Copenhagen (UCPH) and Nationalt Genom Center (NGC).

Flexibility, speed and high level safety
The new computer – Computerome 2 will give scientists greater flexibility and make it possible
to create virtual environments – so-called cloud technologies – to meet the needs of individual
researchers. The computer also has extensive storage and calculation capacity, high -level
operational reliability, and not least, the computer provides the greatest possible security for
processing sensitive data.

About Computerome 2
Go Virtual designed the new Turn-Key HPC cluster solution, purpose built from HPE Apollo and
HPE ProLiant Server technology that integrates compute, software, networking and other IT
infrastructure solutions from its robust ecosystem of partners, including

The HPE Apollo 2000 supports a full complement of HPC features, including top bin
CPUs, fast memory, integrated accelerators or GPUs, and high-speed cluster fabrics and
I/O interconnections.

Component liquid cooling from CoolIT. 70 % of the computer’s servers are cooled with
water at 40 degrees, and the heat generated is used to heat the surrounding buildings.
Shelter Modules from DCC, capable of 500KW cooling capacity each and heat
exchangers for 18°-24° and heat exchangers for 40°-45° facility water.
Mellanox InfiniBand EDR interconnect fabric to enable scalable bandwidth for high performance networking.

Other facts about the supercomputer:
The supercomputer has approx.1228 Nodes with 49120 physical CPU Cores
The supercomputer is specifically designed for Life Science purposes and can handle
large amounts of data safely, flexibly and accurately.
